Yalmerevan Falsfalk

NOBLE RIDER • FALSE FALCON

A gentle, ravenous heart

Yalmereven Falsfalk is a trained witchblade; an itinerant monster slayer. She just happens to specialize in caravan-guarding and prefers more job security than her blade brethren (whom she has never met). Yalmerevan has found employment with the Fata Morgana Company based in Ul'dah, and intends to make a commitment out of it. Onwards, ho!Yalmerevan sports a down-to-earth charm, mild-mannered speech, and with a lilting, soft accent to boot. She endears herself quite easily to some, and is a bumpkin nuisance playing at proper etiquette to others.

GEARS & POWERS

Strengths

  • Alacrity ( A ): Honed perception, sharp intuition, with a little bit of amateur deductive skills

  • Arms Proficiency ( B ): Swords, Warscythe, Shield, Crossbows

  • Alchemy ( B ): An array of boosting potions, poison, and bombs, for combat and utility

  • Spells ( C ): Simple, versatile spells from her shield or her palm

Weaknesses

  • Confidence ( D ): youth, obscurity, and dangerous line of work constantly drives her to overcompensate to prove herself

  • Insight ( D ): even if her intuition tells her something's not right, she's really just hot garbage at reading motive

  • Bleeding Heart (D): incapable of standing by in the face of neediness. Ask her, and she will help, maybe even knowing the chance that it could come back to bite her in the ass, somehow.

Known Spells

  • Shieldbash Shock: Emit a shockwave from her shield, staggering or throwing foes off their feet.

  • Flintstrike Fire: Strike her sword against a metal surface, spraying white-hot sparks that could blind or burn. She could also simply cause her sword or the boss of her shield to shed light.

  • Warding Sheltron: Widen the effective radius of her shield with aether.

  • Grounding Break: Shifting gravity disrupts motion, rooting enemies and disrupting flight.

Alchemy: Witchblade Potions

  • Blue Spearhead: Augments hand-eye coordination, but increases aggression, lowering straightforward defence. Great for swarms of lesser foes.

  • Golden Ichor: Cures fatigue, and heals small wounds and bruises, but lowers strength while active. Best used for long engagements or forced march, when endurance and watchfulness is paramount.

  • White Kingsguard: Increases pain tolerance and elemental resistance, favouring defence over assault. Best paired with a poisoned weapon to make up for lost offence.

  • Black Bishop: Bolsters magic potency at the cost of pain tolerance. Suitable for supportive vanguard role.

Alchemy: Bombs

  • Grenade: Stuffed with incendiaries and whatever debris happens to be at hand

  • Aetherburst Bomb: An overwhelming blast of aether that can cause sickness in spellcasters, and discomfort in others.

  • Aetherdust Bomb: Throw a cloud of aether-sensitive pigments in the air to measure recent aetherical activities.

  • Hush: Releases a sweet-scented, weakening reagent that dulls senses and response time for a short time.

  • Red Rook: Releases a toxic gas that induces internal bleeding in the airways for a short time.

Alchemy: Poisons

  • Hemotoxin: Applied to edged weapons to cause severe pain upon hit, and promotes profuse bleeding.

  • Paralysis Poison: Applied to edged weapons to temporarily disrupt motor functions.

Connections & History

Little Ala Mhigo

Born, raised, and trained in all she knows. Yalmerevan's parents came from Gyr Abania, and even though she helped the Ala Mhigans take back Rhalgr's Reach, she has never felt kinship to that motherland.

The Witchblade Caste

Trained by one, but not raised as one, she possesses the versatility and expertise of a Blade without (in theory) harbouring the institutional feud so prolific between them. She was still imbued with a sense of pride, and the more she hears about other Blades out there, the more she has begun to feel them undeserving of goodwill. Her Blade mentor, called Falcon, disappeared sometime after Yalmerevan declined to follow him on his itinerant path when her training completed.

Fata Morgana

New - and hopefully permanent - employment. Yalmerevan met Lady Scarlet Dawn completely by chance at the Bric a Brac shack, where she was looking for rare bomb ingredients. Seems she has made some good impression indeed, and performed her initiative task of guarding a convoy well.
